This course is for experienced divers who are interested in teaching dive techniques and equipment requirements with which they become more independent as a diver and can independently prevent and / or solve problems.
It is not PADI's intention that everyone will dive on his own, but for some divers this Specialty is really a godsend. For example, Instructors and Divemasters often technically dive alone, because they do not have a full-fledged buddy who will help them in an emergency situation in our eyes, this specialty should actually be mandatory for them because you really learn a lot!
Not only divers who plan to dive solo, but also dive instructors, photographers, videographers, tec divers and other experienced divers who dive without a clear buddy at hand can benefit from this course.
This course covers when solo diving can apply and how this differs from diving according to the buddy system it is an introduction to 'Self-Reliant' (self-help) diving where the diver develops the skills, builds the knowledge and the techniques learns what is needed so that the diver can rely first on himself, the term "solo" diver is actually incorrect, he would have to be a helpful diver himself!
That diving alone involves additional risks, speaks for itself. In part you will simply have to accept these risks, but you can also deal with many risks. That is what you learn in the PADI Self Reliant Diver Specialty.
You will learn how to solve problems that you normally can contact your buddy. There is also a bit deeper into air consumption and the like. So after this course you can plan and do diving on your own, but you also learn to be able to provide 100% for yourself within the normal buddy system.
This is a course that is not for everyone and also not all your buddies will stand behind, but you only know what it is when you have done it and all successful students say that it is a great experience full of learning moments, besides it is a very special experience to dive for the first time alone and for that reason ... highly recommended!
